Thomas loves Clemson, his alma mater. But "loving" your alma mater can mean many different things in the great state of SC. Let's just say that 4 year olds commonly ask each other which team they cheer for, Gamecocks or Tigers. It's a big deal here.
So, while I love that T had a great college experience and enjoys cheering his team on, I also appreciate that he has perspective about it. If Clemson loses, he has perspective about it (with a couple of exceptions but I won't dwell on those here!) and his--and therefore our--day is not ruined.
