Month Number One
ONE MONTH!
Okay, Lillian is only 9 days away from being 2 months old and I am just writing her 1 month post...alas. Perhaps I will be more timely next month. The picture on the left is from when she was 3.5 weeks old. We love our sweet girl more and more each day!
Her doctor's appointment was on October 5, and here are the pertinent stats.
Weight: 9 lbs, 13 oz (6 lbs, 15 oz at birth)--75 percentile
Height: 21 in.--50 percentile
Head Circumference: 38 cm-75 percentile
She is becoming quite the chunky monkey. I am so thankful that breastfeeding came easily to both of us.
Highlights from this month:
My sister Hillary came to visit (Sept. 14-20), all the way from Hawaii!! Watching her love on Lillian was so much fun. We walked around downtown, hung out at my parents' house and at our house, and generally just enjoyed being together as a family. We also ate really well. While Hillary was here, we went to Slight North of Broad, Rue de Jean and High Cotton. YUM. Lillian was a champ for the most part in these restaurants, eating well and staying calm. It was definitely a series of learning experiences for Thomas and me!
Thanks for coming all the way out here, Hillary. We miss you!
Thomas' parents also came to visit at the end of September (23-25) and were of great help to us with cleaning, cooking, and baby care. We cooked 4 huge casseroles for us to defrost whenever
we need food. I know that Lillian enjoyed the time with her Grandma and Pops. We made our first trip to church while they were here, which interestingly enough, coincided with her first major diaper blowout. Ha. Guess it had to happen sometime!
This month Lillian also went for lots of walks in her BOB stroller and in the Ergo carrier (definitely a must have for us). My mom was extremely helpful, coming over most days to help me and to hold la bebe. My parents also provided lots of meals and help. We would have starved without them, I think! Thanks also to our fabulous community group people and church friends who made lots of yummy food as well. We were so blessed by many people's hospitality this month since we were barely functioning from lack of sleep and general exhaustion. (I am so grateful that she is sleeping better this month as I think back to those first few weeks which were nothing short of ROUGH).
Lillian ate every 1-3 hours this month (accounting for those 45 percentile points jumped in weight!), and slept in roughly the same increments.
Lillian's first month by the numbers:
Fancy restaurants: 5
Loving Grandparents:4
Aunts met: 1
Walks: 20, give or take a few
Licks from a loving big brother: lots
Trips to church: 1
Meals eaten on a swing on a downtown pier: 1
Baby friends met: 2 (Yay for Allie Grace Tate and Gretchen Bell!)

Nana's visit
I am working on Lillian's one month post (the longest and shortest month of my life), but it's not ready for posting yet.
So instead you get a picture of my sweet bebe "playing" with a rattle from her Nana. Nana is my grandmother (my Dad's mom) who is in town visiting for the week. Lillian is her first great-grandchild, so it is extra exciting! We have enjoyed eating out with her, going to church, walking on the beach, and hanging around my parents' house. Tonight will mark her fifth fancy downtown restaurant--some have been successful, some have been complete disasters. Lillian is just starting to give us some gummy little smiles which is pretty freakin exciting!
